Participant Information Sheet & Consent – Survey

What is the study about?

This study aims to work with the coastal communities of Redcar and Cleveland to explore health and social needs. We feel that your input is vital to this research and your views will help to shape future priority setting for this area. The aim of the survey is to gain some knowledge about what it is like to either live, work or volunteer in the coastal communities of Redcar & Cleveland.

This study has been granted clearance from the School of Social Sciences and Law research ethics sub-committee at Teesside University (2023 May 15898 Connor)

What will I have to do?

We are inviting people who either live, work or volunteer in Redcar & Cleveland to take part in a survey. In the survey you will be asked to give your opinions and views on the needs of those in the coastal communities of Redcar & Cleveland. The survey should take no more than 20 minutes.

What do I need to take part?

Read this information sheet to help you decide whether you would like to take part in the project or not. You must be:

  • Aged 18 years or over
  • Living, working or volunteering in Redcar & Cleveland

Do I have to take part?

No, this study is completely voluntary. It is your decision as to whether you complete the survey. You can withdraw at any time during the completion of the survey without giving any reason and without your rights being affected. However, you cannot withdraw your data once you have completed the survey

When will the study take place?

The online survey will be available from 27th September 2023 to 30th June 2024.

Can I stop taking part after I have already agreed to take part?

This study is voluntary, and you can stop taking part at any time during the completion of the survey, simply close your Web browser. However, as the survey is anonymous we cannot remove your data after you have submitted the survey as we will not be able to identify your answers.   

How will confidentiality be assured, and information stored and shared?

Personal data including special category data obtained for the purposes of this research project is processed lawfully in the necessary performance of scientific or historical research or for statistical purposes carried out in the public interest. Processing of personal data including special category data is proportionate to the aims pursued, respects the essence of data protection and provides suitable and specific measures to safeguard the rights and interests of the data subject in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018’. Information (consent forms) will be stored securely on the password protected Teesside University servers.

Your anonymous survey data will be downloaded and stored on a password protected University server. It will only be viewed by the team of researchers at Teesside University named on this information sheet during this project.
