How We Work

What is Our Work?

Redcar and Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency (RCVDA) is a charity focused on Social Action, offering practical support and advocacy for registered charities, social enterprises and the hundreds of grass roots groups that make up the vibrant and growing voluntary sector in Redcar and Cleveland.

At RCVDA, our approach to empowering communities and supporting the voluntary sector is grounded in collaboration, inclusivity, and sustainability.

An Overview

Here is an Overview of How We Work:

  • Community-Centred Approach: We believe in the power of communities to identify and address their own needs. That’s why we prioritise active engagement with local residents, community groups, and social enterprises to understand the unique challenges and opportunities within the Redcar and Cleveland area.
  • Partnerships and Collaboration: We recognise that no single organisation can tackle complex social issues alone. Therefore, we foster strong partnerships and collaborations with local authorities, businesses, charities, and other agencies to leverage resources, share expertise, and deliver more impactful solutions.
  • Tailored Support and Guidance: Every community group and voluntary organisation is different, with its own strengths, challenges, and aspirations. We provide personalised support, guidance, and capacity-building services to help these groups thrive, whether it’s through funding advice, training workshops, governance support, or strategic planning.
  • Promoting Equality and Inclusion: RCVDA is committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work. We strive to ensure that our services are accessible to all members of the community, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance.
  • Advocacy and Representation: We act as a voice for the voluntary sector, advocating for its interests and representing its concerns to policymakers, funders, and other stakeholders. Through our advocacy efforts, we seek to raise awareness of the invaluable contributions made by voluntary organisations and champion their role in building stronger, more resilient communities.
  • Continuous Learning and Improvement: The landscape of community development is constantly evolving, and we are committed to staying informed about emerging trends, best practices, and innovative approaches. We regularly evaluate our work, seek feedback, and adapt our strategies to ensure that we remain responsive and effective in meeting the evolving needs of our communities.

By working collaboratively, inclusively, and adaptively, RCVDA strives to empower communities, strengthen the voluntary sector, and create positive change that enriches the lives of all who call Redcar and Cleveland home.
