Governance

Redcar & Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency is a Company Limited by Guarantee (Established in England & Wales, 4 June 1992; No: 02720382) and a Registered Charity (Registered in England & Wales, 04 June 1992; No. 1135959). As such it is governed by a Board of Trustees, which operates under a Memorandum and Articles of Association that is compliant with both Companies and Charities law.

The company is established to promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the community throughout the local government area of Redcar & Cleveland and beyond in such ways as the trustees shall from time to time decide (hereinafter called the ‘area of benefit’) and in particular, the advancement of education, the furtherance of health and the relief of poverty, distress and sickness.

Redcar & Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency is governed by an unpaid Board of Charity Trustees, who are also Company Directors. They are drawn from the community for their specific skills or experience.

The Board of Trustees governs the organisation in accordance with our governing document, the Redcar & Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency Articles of Association.

As in accordance with both Companies and Charities law, Redcar & Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency submits annual reports to both our regulators. The most recent return can be viewed here.

Previously known as “The Langbaurgh Volunteer Bureau” from 04 Jun 1992 to 10 Jun 1996 at which point it changed it’s name to the current “Redcar & Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency”.
