Introduction to the project.
The Warm Welcome project is being led by Redcar & Eston School Sport Partnership alongside Tees Valley Sport through funding from You’ve Got This. The project is a new idea and they are looking for sporting and physical activity organisations from across South Tees (Middlesbrough & Redcar & Cleveland) to become involved. They are looking for a range of organisations, not just sports clubs. They have undertaken a pilot sample of organisations and using their feedback and findings they are now rolling out the project.
What is the Warm Welcome project?
This is a new project that will hopefully encourage more participants to attend and become retained in physical activity and sport in their community settings.
They want to work with organisations to create a short home-made welcome video to their club/session/group. Look at how the organisation market themselves to new members, how they welcome new members into their organisation, what they put in place to retain these new members/participants. Do your coaches/deliverers understand their audience and what makes a warm welcome? How we can encourage members to stay that are struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis. What we do as a follow up after attending a new session etc.
We want to make it ‘easy’ for people to make that huge step into joining a new session/club and we want them to keep coming back.
This project does not have an age limit on it. Groups could be for adults and/or children and young people.
We want to be involved – what do we need to do?
Contact them for further information and/or book onto a workshop to attend. They will share a short powerpoint, with example of videos and feedback from the pilot plus things to consider to RECRUIT and RETAIN members.
A flyer is attached with the workshop dates.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers Louise
