Matrix Neurological – New Support Services
NEW SUPPORT SERVICES FOR ACQUIRED BRAIN INJURY FAMILIES IN STOCKTON AND HARTLEPOOL
Matrix Neurological is a registered charity, based in Middlesbrough that has been established to provide help and practical support to children and young people who are living with the effects of an acquired brain injury; and provide practical help and support to their families.
They have been awarded funding to deliver much needed out-reach work to brain injury families across the Stockton and Hartlepool areas and their Family Support Worker works directly with these families providing a range of services such as: service navigation; advocacy and emotional support; ongoing education to parents to deepen understanding about acquired brain injury and its complex effects; providing learning opportunities to enable parents to develop their personal skills that enable them to become strong advocates for the needs of the child or young person. The aim is to help alleviate some of the family pressure associated with the impact of acquired brain injury on children and young people.
Children and young people also need support to enable them to have a good recovery and help to regain any lost skills and abilities. This is important because improvements can continue for many years post injury as the brain continues to adapt to the changes that have occurred. Families including siblings need to know what they can do to help with that ongoing recovery journey and be supported and empowered to help to ensure their children make the best recovery possible.
Matrix Neurological support families across the Tees Valley area, if you or anyone you know could benefit from this service, please get in touch either via the website www.matrixneurological.org.uk or telephone 01642 989116.
