Important Changes to Reaching Communities Funding Programme

Big Lottery are changing the application process for Reaching Communities, to make it easier for groups and communities to apply for National Lottery funding.

In order to do this, there will be a temporary pause on the submission of Reaching Communities applications between Monday 15 January and Monday 2 April. All applications received before 15 January will be processed in the existing manner.

If your current grant is coming to an end soon and you are working on an application for continuation funding, or if you have any other questions, please contact the Big Advice team:

R&C BC would like to hear your views on Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council’s budget for the coming year. They are consulting on proposals including capital investment plans for the borough and the levels of local taxation and would appreciate it if you have the time to complete the survey at the below link.

Together Project – Supporting Positive Attachment in Families

ArtsBase are delighted to invite referrals to their Together Project that starts in January 2018. The project will offer low level weekly art workshops for children and their parent or carer who reside within Redcar and Cleveland. The aim of the project is to offer a safe and creative space to encourage positive attachment and social engagement.

The sessions will be held weekly (term time only):
0 – 5 yrs – Wednesday 2pm – 3pm
5 – 10 yrs – Wednesday 3.45 – 4.45pm

Sessions will take place at:

The Earthbeat Centre
Marske Road
Saltburn by the Sea

Sessions are informed and facilitated by professional Art Psychotherapists.
Together Project is funded by Children in Need. The sessions are free of charge.

Matrix Neurological are looking for Trustees

‘Matrix Neurological is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation which supports children, young people and their families who have acquired brain injuries. We need Trustees that hold a professional qualification to join our Board to help lead the charity, provide professional advice to other Board Members and oversee the strategic management of our charity.

We are particularly looking for people with experience of Governance, Policy Development, Strategic Planning, Campaigning and Fundraising and Financial Management. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be innovative strategic thinkers with demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills and have the ability to manage conflicting priorities demands and deadlines.

Trustees must safeguard the organisations Mission, Vision, Operations, Assets and Finances and be able to commit to 4 hours per month.

Trustees main Duties;

  1. Ensure the charity is carrying out its purpose for the public benefit
  2. Ensure compliance with the charity’s governing document and the law
  3. Always act in the charity’s best interests
  4. Ensure the charity is accountable
  5. Manage the Charity’s resources responsibly
  6. Act with reasonable care and skill
  7. Take the lead for your allocated specialism or work stream
  8. Contribute and actively participate in Board Meetings

Matrix Neurological are passionate about improving the lives and outcomes of children, young people and their families who are living with the effects of acquired brain injuries and as a trustee you would put your skills and experience to good use and make a lasting difference to the charity and the families we support.

Beanstalk have a new project, and they need Volunteers

By becoming a Story Starter volunteer you will give a child in a local early years setting/nursery the skills to start primary school ready to read. You’ll open up their lives to the magic of stories and provide crucial language development in a way which is fun for both you and the child!
