Volunteering a few days a year to deliver effective trusteeship is a powerful way to support and develop the work of essential organisations making a huge difference to the lives of thousands of people across the Tees Valley.
Trusteeship is hugely rewarding. As well as the satisfaction that comes from knowing you are part of a healthy and vibrant civil society, you’ll develop new skills, meet amazing new people and be part of interesting events, debates, initiatives and activities.
Whether you are a younger or older person, working in the private, public or voluntary sectors, retired, studying or unemployed, if this is something you are already thinking about or might be interested in, it would be great to see you at the event.
You’ll have opportunity to:
- Learn about the role and why it is so important.
- Hear first-hand from trustees and organisational leaders about their experience with a focus on demystifying the role of a trustee.
- Have one-to-one conversations with a range of trustees and organisational leaders to answer your questions and delve further into trusteeship.
- Express interest in a variety of follow-up initiatives being created to guide and support individuals into their first trusteeship position.

An East Clevelander has been Nominated for the National Diversity Awards!!
Ellie Lowther writes, “I’ve been nominated for the national diversity awards as a positive role model in the gender category. I’m actually the only nominee from East Cleveland! I wasn’t sure about it at the beginning but I can see how it can bring more attention to the great work we are doing at Trans Aware. If anyone I’ve interacted with recently would like to endorse/nominate me it could well make the difference to being shortlisted for the award.”

Closing date for nominations is 9th June.
Only 14 days left to nominate: Say ‘Thank You’ to Your Volunteers – RCVDA Volunteer Awards

Healthy Heart Check Programme Consultation
The 4 Tees Public Health Teams are currently reviewing the Healthy Heart Check programme (also called NHS Health Check nationally). It is a statutory requirement for Local Authorities to provide the health checks within their localities.
The programme is currently delivered by local GP practices in their surgeries and we also offer some community and workplace checks. The programme is for adults aged 40-74 years without a current diagnosis of diabetes, heart disease or stroke, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. It is designed to establish the patient’s risk of developing these health conditions and helps them find ways to lower their risk.
The Public Health teams would like to have your views about this programme. The information gathered from the survey will help to inform future commissioning of the Healthy Heart Check programme and make improvements where possible.
They would really appreciate your thoughts on the health check. Please click on the link below and complete the survey online (it takes you straight to Stockton’s website who are co-ordinating the survey for all Tees local authorities).
The deadline of the survey is 23rd May 2017 at 5:00pm.
