State of Social Enterprise 2017
Nick Temple writes: “Every two years, Social Enterprise UK undertake the largest social enterprise survey – the State of Social Enterprise. We do this to:
- build a rigorous evidence base for social enterprise
- understand the barriers, needs and challenges social enterprises face
- provide insight to funders, investors, support organisations
- advocate with confidence to government at all levels
- equip social enterprises with information they can use in their work
Put simply, we think it’s among the most important work we do – and it has value for the whole movement. The more responses we get, the better the evidence, and the more use we can make of it: locally and nationally.
So please take the time to complete the survey here
Completing the survey takes around 15-20 minutes – and is best done by someone who knows the organisation, its people and its finances well. Please check that someone in your organisation hasn’t already done so by phone or online.
Social Enterprise UK has commissioned BMG Research to carry out the research, which is supported by Santander. SEUK works with Co-operatives UK, Locality, Social Enterprise Mark, UnLtd and many local and regional networks to reach as many social enterprises as possible.
If you have any problems, enquiries or questions about the work, please don’t hesitate to contact myself at [email protected] “

PARTICIPANTS NEEDED – Pathways to Stimulant Use in the North East
Liam is part of a team currently working on a new EU study looking at pathways to stimulant use in the North East, at the Institute of Health and Society (Newcastle University), and writes:
” I was hoping I could ask for your help in reaching people who might be interested in taking part in the study? If you could circulate this amongst your contact networks and service users, I would be very grateful. I have included some information on the research below, and attached a PDF flyer. Please do get in touch if you want to chat further about this – we would be very happy to come in and chat about the study first if you would prefer, we can also post out copies of the flyer if you would like to distribute these. Many thanks for your assistance.
(ATTUNE) Understanding Pathways to Stimulant Use: a mixed-methods examination of the individual, social and cultural factors shaping illicit stimulant use across Europe
This study aims to understand more about pathways to illicit stimulant and NPS use and the impact these have on your day-to-day life. We are interested in the factors that have shaped your stimulant use (particularly ‘amphetamine type substances’ – e.g. speed, ecstasy, whizz, crystal meth, MDMA, mephedrone, misuse of Ritalin®).
- Are you 18 years+? Are you a current or ex user of stimulants? Have you had the chance to use stimulants and then didn’t?
- Taking part would involve an informal interview that would last about an hour with a trained researcher.
- We are interested in your personal views – there are no wrong or right answers.
- All the information collected will be anonymised and treated as confidential.
You will receive a £10 high street Love2Shop shopping voucher for taking part. If you are interested or have any questions please get in touch with myself, or Dr Michelle Addison ([email protected] or 0191 208 3031), or by contacting us on our study e-mail address ([email protected]).”
