New Grant Programmes from Comic Relief
Comic Relief have recently launched two new grant programmes:
#iIwill Youth Social Action Fund closing on 12th May
They are inviting proposals which effectively build relationships with young people between the ages of 10 and 20 years old from disadvantaged backgrounds who do not currently participate in youth social action in their own community, and which engage those young people in creative and meaningful youth social action. HIV in the UK: Think Digital closing on 19th May
They are inviting applications to create, adapt, scale up or roll out digital solutions to respond to HIV in the UK. For further information see here.
Safeguarding Children Board Training Courses
Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland Safeguarding Children Board has a wide range of training courses for April to June 2017. Contact them directly for details of a wide range of courses which include:
- Safeguarding the Unborn and New-born Baby
- Working with ‘Disguised Compliance’
- Core Level 3
- Safeguarding in a Digital Age
- Emotional Abuse

Respite Funding for Holiday up to £1,000
The Respite Programme is made up of a number of Funds managed on behalf of donors by County Durham Community Foundation (CDCF). The Programme aims to provide grants to support individuals of any age with a long term illness, or disability and their carers in need of a respite holiday.
Social workers and health care professionals can apply on behalf of those who support individuals with a life limiting illness, disability, dependency, recent bereavement or hospitalization.

Job Vacancy – Health Project Support Officer – closing date Friday 21st April 2017
Fixed Term Post until March 2018
Band 6: £17,820 – £18,265 depending on experience
MEC is seeking to appoint a Health Project Support Officer. Main responsibilities will be to provide administration and IT support to innovative community based projects, tackling health inequalities across Middlesbrough. The post holder should have excellent communication and organisational skills to liaise effectively with a range of partners and volunteers. The role would also include data inputting and reporting. The post is full time but fewer hours would be considered.
