What is the Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Community Health Fund Grants to Voluntary and Community Organisations?
The Community Health Fund is provided by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council through Grants to Voluntary Organisations and Community Groups and is part of a number of initiatives that build community capacity for health, wellbeing and independence. The aim of the fund is for local organisations to develop and implement low level, community based activities that have a positive effect on the health and well-being of local residents – particularly those people who are most vulnerable or isolated within our communities.
Grants available
Voluntary and community organisations can apply for grants between £300 and £1,000.
(Please note that only one successful application per organisation will be accepted in any one year)
Who can apply?
Voluntary and community organisations that are working within Redcar and Cleveland
What types of activity will we fund?
Activities and community support that help reduce loneliness and social isolation and its impact on physical and mental wellbeing in older and vulnerable people. Examples of the kinds of activities we might fund include:
- Lunch clubs/Cafes
- Food banks
- Befriending
- Transport
- Handy person service
Activities and community support that help to protect and reduce the impact of winter on older and vulnerable people. Examples of the kinds of activities we might fund include:
- Identifying those isolated through organisations such as pubs, hairdressers, GPs, or pharmacists
- Snow and ice clearing in the winter
- Transport during winter
Activities that support improvements in uptake of public health, for example:
- Childhood and flu vaccinations
- Cancer screening programmes
- NHS Health Check
- Reduce smoking and alcohol misuse
- Promote healthier eating and regular exercise
Criteria for judging
Applications will be judged by an assessment of the quality of the information provided on the funding application and how well this relates to the priorities identified above.
A decision relating to the approval of grants will be made by a panel from Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and the third sector. The decision of the panel is final and there will be no opportunity to appeal.
Monitoring and Evaluation
There is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to complete monitoring reports. Guidance on this process will be issued to successful applicants.
